Thank you for visiting my site. Some new items are in the Works in Progress section . I have slowed down due to a tree falling on my studio. Luckily minimal damage and the roof was not too bad. All has been repaired and the ceiling. looks better without the huge limbs sticking through them. Luckily, no artwork was damaged. It could have been worse.

Good news as my painting Market in Paris won best in show in the Colonie Art League show and here is the link: https://www.colonieartleague.com/2021-pruyn-house-art-show. The show has many great artists and it was an honor to win this award. It is a virtual show so please have a look. Remember to support your local artists! Regarding my award, here are some of the comments from the press release :

“It was a daunting task to choose one over another,” says Connolly. “The

quality of art was outstanding, filled with a variety of subject matter and technique.

“My choice for Best in Show was ‘Market in Paris’ by Doug Levey. “The

artist portrayed a lively, colorful Parisienne market filled with animated Van Gogh-esque patrons. It was a piece that drew me in immediately and stood out as an outstanding work of art: masterful in technique, color, texture, emotion, and composition. Truly a show-stopper!”

Thank you for visiting and for your support.

March 4, 2021

Thank you for visiting my site. I have added many paintings to the Work in Progress section and added an Archive section. The Archive section will update older sold paintings or ones that were custom paintings. Illness has slowed me down some but I have taken the opportunity to experiment or just have some fun with oils.

I do wish everyone well and hope that everyone is getting through these difficult times. Spring is on the way and hopefully we can get through Covid safely with our sanity intact.

November 1

Thank you for visiting my site. There are some exciting new paintings and some updates. Some changes on the site are some of the photographs which were done by an excellent photographer from Freckled Freelance(SEBarsotti@gmaill.com). Sarah is a great photographer and incredibly easy to work with.

Everyone is going through their own struggles, work, home life, health…you name it. I am lucky to have art to relieve my stress and hopefully art brings some enjoyment to others as well.

Please stay safe, go vote and keep hope alive. We will all get through this.

I certainly don’t update this site as much as I should as I utilize Facebook, dougleveyart, and Instagram more and more. I recommend joining me on these sites as well. I have slowed down as I fight through illness that will not let up on me and along with Covid we all suffer together. A tough time that we will all get through. So it is virtual art shows and sharing work on the web. Thank you for visiting with me and please feel free to comment as interaction keeps it “real”. Support local art!

Thank you,

Doug

Update

Updates to what is happening-I am currently in two shows at the Albany Central Gallery and at the John Stanford Library for the Colonie Art League. The CAL awarded one of my paintings a first prize in oils. It is my current header page of this website of Mother and Daughter. Very humbling and some very kind comments from the judge. Though art is never a competition it is nice to be singled out and acknowledged. Many great artists at both shows.

Otherwise, new paintings are on this site as well as shown on Facebook and Instagram. I have also worked on 2 new custom paintings which is a portrait of Gryphon and The Golfers. As always, if you like my work but don’t see what you are looking for then please contact me as I do custom work.

Thank you for supporting my site and local art!

Comments after health issues

It has been a long time since I have written or updated this site due to health issues. Though I have continued to paint as much as possible, suffering from migraines and a surprise heart issue but on a better path now. This does give one a chance to re-assess and give me a chance to see art differently. I have been experimenting with different mediums and how I paint in general. And why not? Through Facebook I have the opportunity to gather more feedback and the interaction is great and useful. Being creative should never be done in a vacuum.

I thank you for visiting my site and if you enjoy my work, want to buy or have a question or comment then please contact me.

Updates

It has been another lengthy time since I have written and painted. My health has improved enough that I wanted to do a series on images I took at the Mohonk Mountain House. A beautiful if not haunted time for me. Most images I took were in a fog, and I do not mean a mind fog. It was wonderful time but I did not see the sun while I was there. So the paintings become the dreamy visions I had there.

I thank you for visiting my site and comments are always welcome…..and yes paintings are for sale and I do custom work.

Enjoy,

Doug

It has been a while

It has been too long since I posted. Unfortunately, I suffer from health issues that make it difficult but I have added some new custom paintings and even though they are sold I would be glad to paint a special version for you. Please feel free to contact me.

I am very grateful for the support I have received in regards to my health and my art. I will do some traveling to gather inspiration and hope to have a new series very soon.

Otherwise, thank you for visiting and please support local art.

Thank you

The response on this site has been very positive and I appreciate all the great comments. I also would like to thank the folks who purchased three of my favorite paintings, The Swimmer #2, Sisters and Conversation with Jules.

If you like these paintings and would like a custom painting of your family members (yes, that includes animals) please feel free to contact me.

Thank you again for visiting,

Doug

Site information

Due that this is a new site, I will be updating it regularly to include pricing. The pricing for paintings range from $350 to $1500 depending on the size. Would an artist charge by the weight...I think not.

Please feel free to contact me with questions as I make this site as user friendly as possible. There will be growing pains. I do firmly believe that art should be an interactive experience and I do like constructive feedback. Thank you.
